Every week, we’re participating in #totalhonestytuesday, sharing the things we’d usually keep off of social media, and giving a little more insight into our real (and very un-perfect) lives. Hopefully, in doing this, we can all feel a little less pressure to appear a certain way online, and remember that everyone around us is much more than just the highlight reel we normally see.
Day 26 of the#31DayPurge – it's getting so hard to do these but I'm almost done the challenge! I get a cookie when I get to day 31, right? Anyways does anyone else use the under the bed space as mystery storage? Basically where things go to be lost forever. So I finally cleared it all out and turned it into a proper storage space! & then made my bed because I can't take a picture under it so here you go! #totalhonestytuesday #Minimalism #adulting

My aim for January was to spend as little as possible, only on what was absolutely necessary. I didn't quite succeed… I spent a little extra on food some days and I bought this tee by @mischief_made_me from @theoblongboxshop. But, come on. I totally needed it. #totalhonestytuesday #ootd #vintageinspired #mischiefmade #doubletrouble

#totalhonestytuesday I spent $22 on a goddamn candle last Sunday and then wondered what evil genius figured out how to position candles as a luxury good people would shell out $20+ for. On the other hand, it IS a lovely smelling #candle. #slapafilteronanything

#totalhonestytuesday: i bought these on groupon during a sale in an effort to find a workout that makes me feel good (physically, mentally, emotionally, ya know) because the regular gym just doesn't do it for me. very worried i will let them expire before i use them – posting for accountability! oh and the kick it up includes barre, zumba, flexibility, dance, etc.

Here's where 99.99% of my time is spent lately, while I'm dreaming about all the trails that are calling to me. Thought of the month- we're all thinking and talking about how what you see on Instagram is not representative of a person's real life. People only show you what they want you to see. Although I am just as guilty of this as the next person, the reason for my chosen Instagram pics isn't to depict my life as perfect. I take pictures of things I like. I'm an optimist and I like to stay on the sunny side of life. My feed isn't supposed to be a depiction of my entire life, just a depiction of the things I like to take pictures of. To think that anyone can be captured or encapsulated by the sum of their social media profiles seems pretty darn shallow. I try to be aware and think twice, before doing anyone the disservice of assuming they are so two dimensional. No one is perfect, definitely not me, but let's just be kind to ourselves and each other in general. No one wants to be judged by their book cover. #totalhonestytuesday – I hate being unfairly judged based on my online presence- positively or negatively.

#totalhonestytuesday I've posted a lot in the past about doing yoga / other workouts and my healthy lifestyle choices that helped me lose over 40lbs in 2015. Truth is I've completely fallen off the wagon over Christmas (and a bit before!) and I'm finding it so hard to get the motivation back with my increased weight and decreased fitness levels. I will get there though!

Alright. So late last year I heard about a lil’ campaign/hashtag started by @faganchelsea – personal finance blogger – called #totalhonestytuesday to help cure social media anxiety. I LOVE this idea because Im always preaching about authenticity, so here is a closer look into my very real and very UN-perfect life. Yesterday I showed you my fancy living room, and here is the other half of the room, my office. Complete with a bed frame, kitchen table, and ironing board! I’ll be working from the couch until I get my office all set up, which I hope will be by the end of the week? I’ll keep you posted. Oh, and obvi #nofilter. Show us your #TotalHonestyTuesday post and lets bring more authenticity to social media!!!

Okay, inspired by @tulipsandlattes and @faganchelsea, here's my #totalhonestytuesday: I try really hard to keep my apartment clear of clutter, especially during the week. It's a lifesaver to my mental health. However, I keep these two baskets – his and hers – in the spare bedroom, and into them goes anything I don't want to deal with. This is not including the receipts I've been meaning to go through/itemize for MONTHS. Tax time should be real fun this year. Oh, and that piece of furniture the baskets of doom are sitting on? I stripped/sanded it MONTHS ago with the intention of painting it white and turning it into a bar cart. In my mind, future Lauren has all of her shit together and this configuration does not exist — but for now, current Lauren is just going to shut the door to the spare room and have a glass of wine.
